Casting for Season 5 of America's Got Talent continues through March of 2010. Here is the spring audition information and some pointers for success in the first round.

Auditions for the next season of America's Got Talent, which will air in 2010, are already underway, and new audition cities have been announced. NBC will be holding talent searches throughout America until March of 2010. Interested acts can now pre-register for regional auditions or submit video auditions to the producers.

Audition Cities for America's Got Talent

In the fall of 2009, auditions were held in Chicago, Philadelphia and New York City. Only those acts that are chosen to move forward in the competition will be contacted regarding their auditions.

For anyone who missed those auditions but still wants a chance to have their act seen by producers, two options are available. The act can upload a video through the pre-registration form, or it can attend one of the spring auditions. New audition cities for early 2010 have already been announced on NBC's website, although the dates and locations for all of the cities are still pending. The cities are:

  • Los Angeles, California
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Detroit, MI

Pre-registration for America's Got Talent

Pre-registration for the America's Got Talent auditions comes with certain benefits. The short, online form includes a section for contact information and the preferred city of the auditioning act. NBC will use the pre-registration form to contact the act as more information becomes available for each city, including dates and location. Furthermore, the zip codes of all of the interested acts who have pre-registered will help the producers to determine the final locations for the spring auditions.

The form also includes a choice of audition cities and allows acts to upload a video of their work if they so choose. Entrees who are under 18 years old require additional paperwork from their legal guardians. Animal acts, dangerous acts, and friends and family wishing to attend the auditions also need to bring specific paperwork and identification to the audition venue.

Audition Eligibility and Preparation

All acts auditioning for America's Got Talent need to be United States citizens, legal permanent residents of the United States, or possess a current visa allowing them to seek employment freely within the United States.

Otherwise, as long as all of the necessary paperwork is completed and brought to the audition, the audition itself should be very simple. Being prepared is one of the most important parts of the process, so all acts are advised to have the correct paperwork already prepared along with a well-rehearsed act.

All the auditioner needs after filling out the correct forms is a talent, a meaningful personal story, and the desire to see his or her name in lights. If all of those elements come together perfectly, the audition could be only the first part of a long and exciting venture.
