Arrested Development: The Movie - Confirmed!Big Screen Version of The Critically Acclaimed Show is In Production
A superb show that was sadly axed by the Fox network in it's prime. But the movie has now officially been confirmed!
Arrested Development premiered on the Fox network in 2003, but by 2006 had been cancelled despite critical acclaim. It was one of the wittiest, most entertaining, and above all hilarious shows to have come out of America in a long time. Despite the great reputation it soon achieved, it was ended midway through it's third season. Not long after the finale, rumours started flying around that a movie just might be on the cards. Fans across the globe rejoiced, but were not given official confirmation regarding the Arrested Development movie for several years. Until now! Original Arrested Development Cast All Signed UpThere was much debate among fans as to whether the big screen adaptation would ever actually be made, and a lot of uncertainty from the cast about whether they would be signing up or not. Mitch Hurwitz, the show's creator, has always said that he couldn't start working on a script until all the stars had agreed to take part. Over time every cast member was convinced, except for Michael Cera (George Michael Bluth) who has arguably had the most successful career since the show's cancellation. He remained openly against the idea of an Arrested Development movie, worrying that it might not live up to expectations. However, reports are now confirming that he has signed and that production of the film will be going ahead. Plot of the Arrested Development Movie? In February Mitch Hurwitz said in an interview that he had still not started writing a script and jokingly said that he would be accepting pitches. Season 3 of the show ended with Ron Howard (the show's narrator and producer) being pitched the family's story as an idea for a show. His response was "I don't really see it as a show. Perhaps a movie". This has sparked rumours that the movie may well follow that theme, with the character of Maebe Funke using her position as a film executive to try and get a movie made about the ups and downs of the Bluth family's lives. Whatever the plot, it'll be fantastic to see such a great ensemble cast and such a brilliant sense of humour being put to good use on the big screen. A lot of apprehensive fans are saying it should just be left alone, worried that the film will be an anti-climax to such a brilliant show. Let's just hope that isn't the case. A date is still not set but Jeffrey Tambor who plays George Bluth Snr. was reported saying filming would start before the end of 2009!
