The new movie is then added to the end of the queue. The queue determines which movies will be shipped to the member.
Once a movie is mailed back to Netflix, the next movie in the member's queue is automatically shipped to them. The member can easily change the order of their queued movies at any time. The queue will store hundreds of movies.
Watch Movies Instantly
For some movies, about 12,000 titles, members don't have to wait for them to come in the mail. They can watch the movie instantly on their computer simply by clicking the "Play" button on the screen. The membership level that limits the number of movies per month also limits the number of instant movies per month. The rest of the memberships have no limit. Any movies that are available for instant play that a member has in their queue will be marked with the play button.
The Netflix Player
To watch movies from the Watch Instantly program on a TV screen instead of a computer, members can buy a Netflix Player from the site. It must be connected to the Internet and then plugged into the member's TV. The device costs $99 as an up-front purchase. There are no additional charges for the home device.
Buy Used DVDs
In addition to DVDs to rent, Netflix also sells DVDs to members. Used DVDs are available through the site for 5.99 apiece and with no shipping charges. These are mailed in a hard case and include the cover art. There is a one-year guarantee with all used DVDs. If the movie arrives with any damage or if it will not play, Netflix will either give the member a full refund or send a replacement.
Movie Reviews
Netflix members can read through movie reviews to help find the best DVDs to rent. They can also write their own reviews to help other members choose. Members are encouraged to rate the movies they rent with 1-5 stars, and the reviews are then ranked for each member according to how similarly those members rated movies. Rating movies also allows Netflix to recommend movies that are similar to the ones that the member rated most highly.
