Take a look at the upcoming and much talked about films from 2008's biggest Oscar Winners. List includes Javier Bardem, Marion Cotillard, and the Coen Brothers.
The 2008 Oscar Awards offered the world some big surprises with the Coen Brothers taking 3 of the top awards by storm (Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture) and Marion Cotillard taking the Best Actress Award. Some awards were less surprising, including Javier Bardem's win as Best Supporting Actor. Here is a roundup on the upcoming productions featuring these winners.
The brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, winners of the 2008 Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture awards for their film "No Country for Old Men", have teamed up once more as a writer/director duo for their upcoming movie “Burn After Reading”, set to be released on 26 September. This self described action/drama/comedy also features Academy Award winners George Clooney and Tilda Swinton in leading roles. The feature tells the story of a CIA agent who attempts to find the disc containing documents from a memoir he has written, after his wife steals it and proceeds to loose it during a trip to the gym in Washington, DC. Because he discusses his relationships at length and has not edited yet, he is determined to find it before the two scheming men working at the gym find it and start to sell it to the highest bidder.
The 2008 Best Actress Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, will star as Luisa, the wife of a film director who is having multiple affairs (played by Javier Bardem, see commentary after). Cotillard has also just started to film the Michael Mann picture, “Public Enemies”. With recent film “American Gangster” having been a great box office hit, studios have been eager to produce this story which centers around three infamous American gangsters of the 1930s era, when crime was booming at its peak.
Continuing in the gangster themed genre is 2008 Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Javier Bardem, who will star as Pablo Escobar in “Killing Pablo”. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan, and will have Bardem playing the Colombian gangster who was assassinated and the United States forces that played a role in the task. Bardem has also agreed to star in the dramatic film “Nine” along with Marion Cotillard, which is to be directed by Rob Marshall . Bardem will play the lead character, a middle aged film director named Guido Contini who has multiple affairs with women during the completion of his latest film. The story shows him starting to be daunted by his own polyamorous style, he soon finds out that sometimes having more of something is not always better.
