Hugh Jackman has expressed his distress over the leaked version of his new film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. At a press conference in Sydney, Jackman stated that “It was heartbreaking for everyone involved with the film.”
Hugh Jackman has more than one reason to be upset about the illegally downloaded film, he not only stars in it, but his production company, Seed Productions, produced the movie, too.

Jackman was spectacularly lowered onto Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour, for a press conference to promote the film’s release. The crowd was treated to twenty minutes worth of footage from the completed movie. Jackman is also attempting to encourage his fellow Australians to campaign to have the movie’s first premiere in his native Sydney. He also stars in his very own you tube clip promoting the petition.
He told the assembled crowd that the leak is “…a very serious crime and there’s no doubt it’s very disappointing…” One of the year’s most anticipated movies has now already been seen by an estimated one million people, who have downloaded the film illegally from the internet. Jackman, however, is pleased that many members of the internet community have condemned the disclosure of the film. Furthermore, he feels confident that those responsible for the leak will be caught.
Roger Friedman Gets Fired
A further twist in this tale is that Fox News columnist Roger Friedman has lost his job, because he has seen and reviewed the illegal movie. Twentieth Century Fox, which is also affiliated with the film, has been attempting to suppress the leaked version of the movie.
Friedman not only unwisely reviewed the pirate movie, he also commended the convenience of downloading illegal material from the internet. Unsurprisingly, Friedman has been fired for this error in judgement.
X Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the first episode in the X-Men narrative, and is a prequel to the previous three X-Men films. The theme of the movie seems to remain fairly consistent with its predecessors, however, the mutants are in danger of being destroyed, and therefore must join together to defeat their common enemy. The big difference in this movie is that the main thrust is the character of Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman.
There are those who currently believe that the leaked version of the film will only serve to enhance its popularity at the box office. However, history teaches us that movies, such as Hostel II, which are available online before their cinematic release, do not fair well at the cinema. The outcome for X-Men Origins: Wolverine remains to be seen.
