Terrible looks from the Academy Awards of 2009 that will go down in history into the Fashion Hall of Horror

Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for her role as June Cash in Walk the Line but on Sunday night she crossed a fashion line and walked right onto the worst dressed at Oscars 2009 list. Normally the hummingbird-like blonde glows on the red carpet choosing to wear Nina Ricci or Carolina Herrera and look stunning. But she stunned the audience in a different way when she lurched on stage in a black-and-blue gown by Rodarte. It’s hastily put together straps, awkward glitter on the bodice were bad enough; however Reese’s matching blue and black makeup left her looking like she’d been in a bar room brawl after going on a seven-day bender. She look haggard, her hair looked brittle and she was in desperate need of a sandwich with chockfull of carbohydrates and protein. It was a catastrophic choice of clothing and makeup.

Knowles Among Worst Dressed at Oscars: A Knock-out For All the Wrong Reasons

Beyoncé Knowles on the red carpet was an embarrassment. She limped along in a House of Dereon number (the couture house Knowles launched with her mother, Tina, and named for her maternal grandmother) that was nothing more than a wretched print in an awful silhouette and an even worse neckline. Knowles is normally a knock-out but she knocked the audience’s eyes out when she appeared in a musical medley with Oscar host Hugh Jackman. She began to sing a song from 1980s hit Grease while dressed in sequined red swimsuit with tassels (or maybe it was a figure skater’s ensemble with tassels) that did nothing for her thighs. Game over. Bad taste got 100. Good taste got zero.

Evan Rachel Wood Should Have Wrestled For a Better Dress

After Knowles left the red carpet in her upholstery print, a corpse bride, formerly known as Evan Rachel Wood appeared on the scene. Wood, who played Mickey Rourke’s daughter in The Wrestler, rarely cracls a smile anyway but, clad in an Art Deco-style alabaster gown by Elie Saab that matched her palest of pale skin tone, she resembled a fish belly. A deteriorating fish belly at that. (Recall that Elie Saab is most famous for dressing Halle Berry the year she won her Oscar for Monster’s Ball.) Wood's dress was simply a monstrosity on her.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Her chest looked like it was trying to escape from prison and that was terribly distracting during the technical awards she presented. Though it was a Dior haute couture gown in a minty colour it just looked overdone with plumes of tulle and fluffiness.
